Faces in light

The looks I create are always the result of finding my own empathy with the characters and the visual world they inhabit – in combination with how the filmmakers’ themselves wish to show those aspects.

Many of my projects deal with the female experience and/or elements of psychological trauma. I would say those are a speciality for me – perhaps I relate best to those stories.

It’s a huge privilege to be the last custodian of a production’s images and I’m grateful to those creative collaborators who have returned to work with me again.

Final colour treatment

Four seasons, three white points

In designing a base look for the film, the question became how to underline their lives moving separately through the same seasons – regardless of whether we’re in the prison or outside it – without it being too obvious. The approach also had to be simple to manage.
